PETERSON BUTTE

Peterson Butte is a hill in the Willamette Valley near Lebanon Oregon for paragliding, hang-gliding, and R/C soaring.  This hill is the most popular slope soaring site for PASS members.  There is so much going for it:  Easy drive-up access and parking on the top.  Large flat grassy launch/landing zone, no tourists or other non-pilot traffic.  Faces SW which is good for late Fall through late Spring flying. Good visibility.  Good lift.  An A+ site.

• Landing Area Quality: Excellent, large grassy area.

• Hazards in the area:  Paraglider traffic

• I5 South to exit 228 (Hwy 34)

• Hwy 34 E to Steckley Road

• Steckley Road  S to Sand Ridge Road

• Sand Ridge Road S to driveway (big green building).

• Driveway through gate(s) to the top of the butte.

Site review:

• This site is primarily flown in S or SW winds during the winter.

• This site works in weak and strong winds.  The site is wide open for great visibility.

• The landing zone is a huge grassy area.

• It can get cold and damp while flying here.  Bring your cold/wet weather clothing.
