CAPE BLANCO
Cape Blanco is a coastal soaring site near the town of Port Orford on the southern Oregon coast. This is a premier site where the annual “Slopefest” is held, sponsored by the Southern Oregon Slopiens. The Slopefest is held for a full week starting the 2nd weekend of July. Site Review:
This site is primarily flown in N winds during the summer. I've never been there for S winds in the winter.
Very scenic area to fly with rocks in the ocean, lighthouse, grassy LZ. The wind can blow quite strong here for weeks at a time.
The primary weather problem is occasional fog.
